Self Care Tips

As important as it is to have a plan for doing work, it is perhaps more important to have a plan for rest, relaxation. self-care and sleep - Akiroq Brost

๐Ÿ’• Self Care tip 1 โ€“ Meditation ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€โ€๐Ÿ’•
Just 10 minutes a day of meditation will help slow down the internal chatter and calm an anxious mind.
A lot of us struggle with meditation when we first start but there are many different ways to meditate, and I feel that it is simply finding what is right for you.
Find yourself somewhere you will not be interrupted, close your eyes and take some slow deep breaths.
Set an alarm so that you do not feel that you need to keep checking the time.
To begin with you could try a 10 minute guided meditation. There are plenty available to choose from on YouTube.
Or you could try a meditation where you focus on the breath -breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Breathe in for the count of 4, hold for the count of 7, and exhale to the count of 8.

๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒžSelf Care Tip 2 - Movement ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒž
Get out of your head & into your body. ๐ŸŒž
If you can get outside in nature, go for a walk or enjoy your garden - It will lift your spirits. ๐ŸŒž
If you canโ€™t get out how about some yoga, or a living-room workout.
Or simply put some music on dance around the kitchen.

๐ŸŒฟSelf Care Tip 3 - Gratitude. ๐ŸŒฟ
When it rains look for rainbows ๐ŸŒˆ. When it is s dark look for stars ๐ŸŒŸ.
๐ŸŒฟIn difficult times it is important to remind ourselves of all we have to be grateful for - our family, friends, community; blue skies; a hug; a video call with our loved ones.
When you first wake up, think of 3 things that you are grateful for, and you will find it gives you a great start to the day.

๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผSelf Care Tip 4 โ€“ Journaling.๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผ
Get your thoughts out โ€“ writing them down can help relieve anxiety. I. t can help to get your thoughts in order and give you new perspective. It is also a time in the day to focus on yourself and how you a feeling. ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผ If journaling appeals to you set aside 10 minutes each day with your notebook. At first you may not do it every day but if you keep coming back to it, it will eventually become part of your daily practise. ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒผ

๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธSelf Care Tip 5 - Get Creative ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ Spend some time in creativity - drawing, painting or mindful colouring . ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ
It will give you the chance to switch off for a little while and just be in the moment. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

๐Ÿงก๐ŸงกSelf Care Tip 6 - Catch up with friends. ๐Ÿงก๐ŸงกCoffee & a catch up; wine & a natter. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก Get a group of friends together (observing social distance rules, of course), or make a regular weekly date to video-chat with your bestie. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก

๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒทSelf Care Tip 7 - Learn something new. ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒทWith so many free or reduced courses available at the moment it is a great time to learn something new. ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒทMaybe there is something you have always wanted to learn but not found the time, perhaps a language, or a new skill like knitting.๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒท

๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆSelf Care Tip 8 - Soak in the bath. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ Add a cup of Epsom salts and a few drops of essential oils - lavender or rose are my favourites. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆWhen you are in a household with young children this is the ultimate luxury. ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆPut on a hair mask, maybe a face mask, light a few candles, and relax. Donโ€™t forget to lock the door! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
